Overnight Homicide in Niagara Falls

Officers responded to a report of shots fired at 1:15am this morning in the area of Main Street and Niagara Avenue. Upon arriving, officers found a black male at the front of the Main Street Mini-Mart, 2027 Main St. The male was badly injured from an apparent gunshot wound to his upper left leg. He was pronounced dead a short time later at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. His name is being withheld pending positive identification and family notification.

Detectives believe the victim was shot while in his vehicle which was parked a short distance away, in the 900 block of Niagara Avenue. It appears the assailant drove off in the victim’s vehicle, which was recovered a short time later in the 1000 block of Cleveland Avenue.

No suspect information is available at this time.

This was the 5th homicide in the City this year, and the first since June 13th.
