Doesn't Rule Out Future Run

There will be no new Sheriff in town. Cheektowaga Police Captain John Glascott comes up short in his bid to unseat incumbent Erie County Sheriff Timothy Howard. Glascott believed voters would be ready for a change in leadership at the Sheriff's department with lawsuits over conditions at the jail, inmate escapes, and inmates wrongfully released. He highlighted those issues in his campaign, but on election day the voters chose the status quo and re-elected Sheriff Howard. Glascott was gracious in defeat.

"It doesn't look like it's worked that well for us this evening and that's all right. We'll move on," Glascott told the assembled supporters inside the Ellicott Square Building in downtown Buffalo just after 11:30 Tuesday night. "Thursday morning I'll be back at my desk at the C.P.D. hitting the ground running, taking care of my friends in Cheektowaga and we're going to do just fine."

Glascott also said in his concession speech that they'll have to work harder next time so we asked him after his speech if that means he'll run again. "I have no intention. How does a politician say it now? I have no intentions right now to declare anything for the future," said Glascott, "Right now this has been a good run. I believe we ran a clean and honest campaign right to the end."
