When you go out to vote for the General Election on Tuesday you'll notice there's a new way to cast your ballot at most voting stations in Erie County. Instead of the old push lever booths with the curtain there's a paper ballot involved and a new machine. Once voters check in they will be given a paper ballot which they fill out in a privacy booth. Similar to the SAT's the voter fills in the bubble for the candidate they want to vote for. Then when you're done you can put it in a privacy folder, then you insert it into a machine. The machine will let you know that you have successfully completed the voting process.

Election officials say they feel this process is more accurate. "It is error proof because it has the paper ballots as well as the automatic tape that records every time someone puts a ballot into the machine," one election volunteer said.

If you voted in the primary elections then you already had the chance to experience the new process. The only place you won't find the new voting machines in Erie County is in the city of Buffalo.
