Buffalo Police are investigating the stabbing death of Jacob Herbert, 19, of Clarence. Police say he was stabbed multiple times around 4:30 a.m. Saturday morning in the 100 block of Lisbon Avenue. They say an argument or dispute broke out as people were leaving a house party that, according to police, had already been broken up by police at least twice before.
Herbert was already known to law enforcement.
In 2005, when Herbert was attending Clarence High School, he admitted his involvement in the murder of Antoinette Larkin, 66, of South French Road in Amherst. Her daughter in-law, Lynn Larkin, along with Lynn's son and three teens, including Herbert, were implicated in the crime. The motive was believed to be Lynn Larkin's desire to benefit from the victim's life insurance money.
Herbert's attorney at the time, Gary Wojtan, says the teen admitted his involvement, and, in family court, was found to be a juvenile delinquent and sent to a state facility for less than a year. Wojtan says Herbert did not play a large part in the crime, and gave statements about the other suspects, who all either made guilty please or were convicted.
Meanwhile, Buffalo police say a city camera located at the corner of Lisbon and Cordova Avenues, close to the crime scene of the fatal stabbing, was operating at the time of the incident. Police will not comment on whether it captured anything pertaining to the crime.
They do say they are progressing in the case.
Police are asking anyone with information about this case to call the Confidential TIPCALL Line at 847-2255.
