Erie County Sheriff Debate Draws in Protestors

Election day is next Tuesday and protestors showed up at a scheduled debate between the candidates for Erie County Sheriff Saturday morning. The demonstrators are drawing attention to prisoner's rights after allegations of abuse in the Erie County Holding Center. Sheriff Timothy Howard though was not able to make the debate. His campaign manager says they received late notice of the event and let organizers know last week that they couldn't fit it into the sheriff's busy schedule. Howard's challenger Cheektowaga Police Captain John Glascott was there and took questions from citizens. "I'm here to answer questions... talk to the people at this center and let them get to know me a little bit," Captain Glascott said. "Let them know what I'm about... and hopefully they'll make the right decision come Tuesday."

Sheriff Howard's campaign manager says his candidate has participated in about a dozen or so other forums leading up to next week's election.
