Halloween Tips During H1N1 Season

It is an exciting day at the Charter School for Applied Technology. Some kids are wearing their Halloween costumes, and with many of them getting ready to go trick or treating, teachers are reminding them about good hygiene. They practice coughing into their sleeves, and washing their hands. There are a few extra lessons for October 31st, from the school nurse to both parents and students.

"No bobbing for apples at any parties. That is really unsafe this year," said Nurse Marina Curtin.

The Erie County Health Commissioner says continue what they have been saying when it comes to good health. Dr. Billittier adds is a good idea to wash your hands if you are giving out candy, and have your kids wash them when they get home.

"We all have a responsibility to other people. If we are sick we should not go near other people. People handing out candy should not hand it out if they are sick, and kids who are sick should not go out trick or treating," said Dr. Billittier.
