Students Lose Homes in Alfred Fire

Tools

The Fire began early this morning on 3 Main Street in Alfred, and Firefighters got the call around 6:30 a-m. Two businesses were in the building, and 11college students live in upstairs apartments. They all got out safely, but for some, it was not easy. Thomas MacBain tells Eyewitness News that in order to get out, he had to jump out of a second story window.

9 of the 11 students go to Alfred University. The Vice President of University Relations says they are working with the students to find new homes, and are also providing counseling for them. Fire investigators are looking for a case, and hope to have one by tomorrow.
