The first snow event of the season dumped half a foot of snow on some spots across the Southern Tier. Here are snow totals as of later Friday from National Weather Service snow spotters:

WELLSVILLE 6.0
WHITESVILLE 4.0
WEST ALMOND 2.8

CATTARAUGUS COUNTY:
OLEAN 4.0

CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY:
MAYVILLE 3.8
FREWSBURG 2.1

ERIE COUNTY:
WALES 1.0
EAST AURORA 0.5
ELMA 0.2

GENESEE COUNTY:
PAVILION 1.0
