There was a tornado warning issued just after 2pm Sunday afternoon for east central Cattaraugus county and northwestern Allegany county. The warning stayed with the severe storm as it moved to the southeast at 40 mph, near Rushford, Black Creek, Scio, and then into the Wellsville area. There have been many reports of widespread damage and also 100 to 200 trees down in a 50 foot wide path in the Black Creek area.
The National Weather Service hasn't confirmed an actual tornado touchdown but crews will be assessing the damage Monday morning in those areas in Allegany county.
There were also reports of isolated damage across Western New York from severe thunderstorms that moved through during Sunday afternoon.
