Albany Stretches Into Holiday WeekendNo more paychecks until this is resolved, is the word from the State Comptroller. Thomas DiNapoli plans to withhold the state senators' paychecks, unless a court tells him otherwise. This comes as welcome news to some local residents, who are sick and tired of what is going on in Albany. Some Western New Yorkers believe withholding the paychecks is not going far enough. "I think they should have fined them every day they were out," said resident John Dailey. The Governor again met with leaders from both sides today, but no power sharing deal yet. Senators were back in session for the usual few minutes, gaveling out without business getting done. The democrats believe votes they took earlier in the week when Republican Frank Padavan was in chambers were legal. Padavan says he was simply taking a shortcut, and the Governor has said he won't sign the legislation. "It is very frustrating. It is not the place where I would chose to be on July 3rd or 4th. I am hoping shortly there is an outcome which ends up being good for the residents in the community," said State Senator Michael Ranzenhofer. But for some residents, what happened will not go away, even after there is a resolution. "If they don't clean up their act I would not vote for any of them next tine around," said Resident Stan Swisher. Most ViewedMore Good Stuff |
