Retired State Trooper David O'Brien took the stand in his own trial this morning. He is facing vehicular manslaughter and DWI charges, after an accident last April. He was apparently driving the wrong way on the 219, and crashed into 38 year old Wendy Karnes of Bradford, Pennsylvania. She died from her injuries.

The prosecution alleges he appeared drunk that night, and failed several field sobriety tests. O'Brien today claiming on the stand he must have been exhausted, and fell asleep. He says that he suffers from sleep apnea.

Closing arguments in the case will begin tomorrow morning.
