Expect to see extra patrols on the roads tonight throughout Western New York as officers try to keep drunken drivers off the roads. Wintry road conditions are causing roll-overs and crashes involving sober drivers, and driving after drinking alcohol during New Year celebrations tonight can make matters much worse.
Cheektowaga Police will enforce a Zero Tolerance policy tonight, and many departments will not accept excuses tonight.
Police are asking you to designate a driver before you go out to ensure someone can get you home safely.
Also, attorney William Mattar is covering the tab for safe rides home through the Designated Drivers of Buffalo Program. Between the hours of 10 p.m. Tonight and 4 a.m. tomorrow, you can call 713-7703. Two uniformed drivers will be dispatched to you so one of them can drive you home in your own car.
