Clark Pleads Guilty

Former Erie County Executive candidate Paul Clark and West Seneca businessman Roger Peck faced a judge today. They plead guilty to misdemeanor election charges. Erie County District Attorney Frank Clark says Peck paid $10,000 to the web site politicsny.net for campaign services for Paul Clark.

The transaction Frank Clark says was never reported and done to deliberately hide what happened. "This isn't an oversight that I jeepers you mean the 15th of April was yesterday. No this isn't a situation like that. We feel that the actions in failing to meet the requirements of the statute were committed knowingly and willfully," said Frank Clark.

Paul Clark's campaign also plead guilty for failing to report a check of $6,200 to pay for secretarial services of a female working for the campaign. The money Frank Clark says came from the whistle blower in this case, Michael Mullins. "There were checks made out by him to the Clark campaign which were used to pay for her salary, and that money was not reported," said Clark.

Mullins is the man who brought the issue to light after he made thousands in donations and even loaned the Clark campaign more than $35,000. The money, according to the district attorney has not been recovered. "There were loans made to that campaign which have never been repaid. Wether there is civil recourse to that respect or not I don't know, that is not my concern," said Frank Clark.

Paul Clark and Roger Peck face up to one year in jail. Michael Mullins is supposed to be charge sometime with-in the next 5 days.
