In New York State, almost 190-thousand families went camping in 2007. This year, the numbers have climbed even higher. Many experts attribute the increase to the high price of gas.
Several weeks ago, this "family" of friends packed up, gased up, and left the big city behind. they traveled south, to the small Allegany County Town of Angelica for a weekend of old fashion, outdoor fun at Evergreen Trails Campground.
It's a get-a-way, not far from home, but far enough to escape all the hustle and bustle of every day life and enjoy a heaping helping of comfort food by the old campfire mixed with good conversation and stories of days gone by.
But for the children, camping is a wild adventure. It's a time where they can play all day under blue skies and starry nights. They foster friendships and let their imagination and creativity flow.
