Chris Collins' Proposed 2009 for Erie County is now in the hands of legislators. Collins says this budget is a performance management tool that is unlike budgets from other administrations.
In the proposed budget, Collins would eliminate 200 county positions, which would be reduced mostly by attrition, and by giving back the responsibility of maintaining City of Buffalo parks to the city.
Homeowners would face a property tax hike of $18 on a $100,000 home.
Libraries would not get the extra money that legislators added to the last budget. And funding would be tightened on some of the local cultural institutions.
Legislators are now reviewing the document, looking for ways to reduce the cuts and the property tax hike.
