21-year-old Etidal Abdullah was at Save-A-Lot on Abbott Road in Lackawanna with her mother Friday afternoon, when her mother asked her to retrieve something from their vehicle. Abdullah walked out of the store and hasn't been seen again.
Friends and community members are mobilizing this weekend to help the family find the young woman, putting up flyers with her picture and information, searching areas for clues, and setting up phone lines and a Web site. They're also offering a $15,000 reward for information that leads to her return.
Meanwhile, sources say Abdullah's cell phone has been discovered in South Buffalo on McKinley Parkway.
Abdullah is a student at Trocaire College. Friends say it would be uncharacteristic of her to flee on her own. But whatever the circumstances are, they want to make sure she is safe.
Lackawanna Police told 7 News today that "nobody" was on duty today, and that we'd have to wait until tomorrow, Monday, to speak with someone. A family friend says police said the same thing to Abdullah's family.
