Mohammad Ibrahim Memon, the principal and head of Darul-Uloom Al-Madania schools in Buffalo, has resigned after he allegedly had an intimate relationship with a woman who was a student.
The Muslim Public Affairs Council - WNY heard about the allegations several weeks ago, and Dr. Khalid Qazi says his organization started investigating the matter immediately.
"Although they were two consenting adults, the fact remains that the children don't go to school for this particular purpose, and especially, the principal isn't there for this particular purpose," says Dr. Qazi.
Qazi says the Muslim community was dismayed when people learned about the allegations.
7 News attempted to reach someone at the school by the phone and at the adjoining mosque, but our calls were not returned. Still, Dr. Qazi says the school's leadership has helped with the investigation and with obtaining Imam Ibrahim's resignation.
