Storms rip through area
First the storm, then the calm after the storm. And then, the cleanup. "Came home, cleaned up the mess and as you can see I am still working away," said Amherst resident Joe Becht. Early this afternoon, Landings Drive in Amherst became a landing for trees. "A very large gust of wind knocked down branches from that tree, and looked like it clogged the storm sewers," said Brian Kamrowski. The area is rocked by rain, and hail that one resident said was the size of gumballs. It is weather that is a sight for meteorologist Aaron Mentkowski, who walked through the water holding his son. "I have followed weather since I was this guys size and have seen about everything, but in Western New York you don't see something like that too often," said Mentkowski. Sump pumps fill up as the streets do too, and as day turns to night, streets become waterfront property. Residents are busy, like these who watched this tree fall into their yard. "I am just like wow, that was really powerful," said Matthew Grugnale. "It was a pretty amazing storm in a short amount of time," said Jill Grugnale. Most ViewedMore Good Stuff |
