Both the U.S. Government and the Seneca Nation of Indians filed motions Wednesday asking that the Buffalo Creek Casino case, about the Seneca Nation's right to open a casino in downtown Buffalo, be transferred out of federal court and to the National Indian Gaming Commission. Apparently the Department of the Interior changed the laws about who oversees Indian Gaming in June. The Senecas are also asking that U.S. Judge William Skretny's order to immediately shut down the temporary casino be overturned. Representatives for the Senecas say these moves legally support their decision to let the gambling continue after that July court order.
