Several strong to severe thunderstorms moved through parts of Western New York, mainly over Northern Erie, Niagara, Orleans, and Genesee counties during Wednesday. Many hail reports came in to the National Weather Service in Buffalo, including nickel size hail in Lewiston and quarter to golf ball size hail in Gasport. And pictures posted through YouNews TV on our website show large hail also hit Ransomville.

It's believed lightning strikes caused a few hundred homes to lose power, mainly across Erie and Niagara counties. National Grid was reporting Wednesday night that most power had been restored.
