Lakewood-Busti Police are confirming that a loud “boom” heard Sunday night was the result of a 20-year-old man engaging in target practice.
The man told police he mixed three 6-pound boxes of Tannerite together and shot the product with a 30.06 rifle in a ravine on Lawson Road in the Town of Busti, causing a very loud explosion.
Tannerite is sold at local sporting goods stores as a target shooting accessory and is very dangerous.
No charges are being filed at this time.
