Four die in fatal fire

Four die in fatal fire

By Julie Fine

Firefighters are looking for the cause of a blaze that left four people dead on Townline Road. It is a four unit apartment complex, and friends of the Reis family say that they lived in the apartment where four people died. They say mother Sherry lived there with her two college age daughters Virginia and Emily, and son Tim, who goes to Byron Bergin High School. Firefighters confirm it was three females and a male who died, but have not yet confirmed their identities. Friends of the Reis children are near the complex, awaiting word and comforting each other.

Firefighters say they got the call just before five this morning, and when they got there the structure was engulfed. The Byron Fire Chief said they were told the smoke detectors were checked just a month ago, but did not hear any when entering.
