Niagara Falls Police report more graffiti in the area, and a lot of it is gang signs. They also believe two nationally known gangs, the bloods and the crips, are making their presence known in the area. The latest report is in an alley on 19th Street in Niagara Falls. Garages painted with gang signs, as well as inflammatory remarks about the Police. Neil Brigante has lived on the street all of his life.

"This used to be a beautiful street at one time," said Brigante.

As for what 7 News found in the alley, we asked Police if it is just the tip of the iceberg.

"I would say so. And it is not unique to one area of the city. We have clusters of gang activity in all parts of the city," said Chief of Detectives Ernest Palmer.

Palmer says they have a large number of gang wanabee members, but there is some evidence of organized crime activity. In another alley in the City of Niagara falls, more graffiti.

"No matter if they paint it tomorrow, it will be back up the next day," said resident James Poler.

Just ask Roger Spurback about graffiti. He is the president of the Niagara Falls Block Club Council. He reported the graffiti on 19th Street, and this is how he spends his time. Driving around, reporting it, documenting it, and removing it.

"They just tag it when they move into the neighborhood to let them know they are there. It is almost like an intimidation," said Spurback.

It hasn't intimidated him. He helped get rid of it in about 400 locations last year.

"I will keep on going back until they go away," he added.
