Boy Survives Fall from Cliff

Boy Survives Fall from Cliff

By Ginger Geoffery

It happened near Jaekle Avenue around 6:00 Friday evening. Eleven-year-old Casey Seabolt was playing with two siblings and another friend near the edge of a cliff. The children told police Casey slipped and tumbled down the gorge, landing in the shallow water of Silver Creek. Police estimate he fell 70 feet. For rescuers on foot and in the air with the help of the Chautauqua County sheriff's helicopter it was no easy task reaching the injured boy. Firefighters eventually got to him by rappelling down the gorge. They strapped Casey to a backboard and took him to Silver Creek elementary school where Starflight met them to rush Casey to Buffalo's Women and Children's hospital. He's being treated there for multiple fractures.
