Williams To Interview In Memphis:
A very vague Buffalo School Superintendent Dr. James Williams merely acknowledged interest from the Memphis Tennessee school district, but little else. "I did talk to a head hunter and the conversation was we have an interest in you, and the work that you all are doing in Buffalo. Can I recommend you to the board? And I said yes." said Williams.
Williams says he will likely go for an interview adding it's a credit to the Buffalo School District that Memphis is interested in him. He also admitted it's a real opportunity. Memphis is the 16th largest school district in the country, and the base pay is $50,000 more than he is making now. "You get a call from New York city the top market in the country, you don't go and announce it. You go and investigate it, not because your unhappy, but because it's New York City." said Williams. He also spoke candidly about the problems he's had to deal with here with McKinley Highschool, City Honors, and his board. He never ruled out the possibility of going to Memphis. "I say to the school board if you want me to stay here lets have a conversation. Make me feel appreciated as a board lets have a conversation." said Williams. Williams contract is up in 2011, but says he can move on with 60 days notice. |
