Paladino's Message

Paladino's Message

By Steve Barber

Buffalo developer Carl Paladino has never minced words when it comes to Buffalo School Superintendent Dr. James Williams. Not surprising was his reaction when he heard Williams was a finalist for the superintendents job in Memphis. "We should pay for the moving company and get em out of here as quick as we can. We should go and tell these people just what a wonderful man he is." said Paladino.

He is not backing away from comments he made about Williams last week when he said Williams got his job in Buffalo because he is black. Paladino is also considering suing the City of Buffalo for a resolution it passed condemning his remarks. He is demanding that council rescind the measure, and he says claims from Councilman Brian Davis, that the remark was racially divisive, is spin. "He's just spinning everybody, and it's responsible people that have to come out and put a spot light on these things and I see that as my role." said Paladino.

Paladino says his remarks are not about race, but rather performance. "Accept for a couple of pockets of excellence, the entire school system is a failure." said Paladino.

It's a district he claims spends more than $26,000 per student each year. Paladino claims taxpayers aren't getting a good bang for their buck. "We could take every kid and send em to a quality private school and we could set aside $15,000 a year for a college fund for that kid. That's how sick it is." said Paladino.

Seven News was unable to reach Councilman Brian Davis for comment.
