It was a tense three hours in the City of Buffalo. Police responded to a potential disaster. "We closed off Delaware between Allen and North and evacuated the adjacent building of it's occupants" said Buffalo Police Lt. Ken Szyszkowksi.

There were reports of a suspicious package at a UPS drop box on the steps of a New York State health Department building in Buffalo. "The individual came up. He had a package under his jacket which tipped off the person to being suspicious. He dropped the package into the receptacle and he made his way out to Delaware towards Allen Street." said Lt. Szyszkowski.

Buffalo Police didn't take any chances calling in Erie County bomb squad chief Dan Walczack. "You always have to be a little bit apprehensive, but on this squad everybody is always trying to get into that suit." said Walczak.

He wore a green protective suit when he went in to investigate. "It was approximately 5 envelope size packages inside the UPS container." said Walczack.

One of those packages police believe is suspicious. It was x-rayed, but no explosives were found. The contents are still under investigation, and police aren't releasing further details.

Police did give the description of the man seen dropping off the package. "All we have is a white male about 40 years old. A description of his clothing (includes) a green jacket and black pants." said Lt. Szyszkowski.

The building is also equipped with several surveillance cameras. Police say they will be part of the investigation.
