Five-term western New York Congressman Tom Reynolds is not seeking re-election this year.
The 57-year-old Republican lawmaker from Erie County is expected to make the announcement at a news conference scheduled for noon on Thursday
in his Buffalo-area district, according to someone familiar with Reynolds' decision.
Reynolds, the former chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee, narrowly defeated Democrat Jack Davis in
the last two elections.
Reynolds was once considered a potential candidate for House Speaker but his political fortunes fell with those of the national
GOP.
He represents the 26th Congressional District, a seven-county region that stretches from the Rochester area to the Buffalo
suburbs.
Before Thursday, 28 incumbent Republicans in Congress said they were not running for re-election.
