It is no surprise that there is a sign in in the Hackemer's house saying this house believes.

"It was just hard that this happened, but for a reason," said John Hackemer, Jr.

It is a close knit family. Four out of six children join the military, including youngest son James, whose life is dramatically changed now. On his second tour of duty in Iraq, the vehicle he was driving, at the front of a convoy, was hit by a roadside bomb. James lost both of his legs in the attack. His wife, who is also in the military, called his mom, who then had to tell the rest of the family. The 26 year old, remains sedated in a military hospital in Germany, and will be flown to Walter Reed in Maryland on Friday. He has one little girl, and another one on the way. His wife and family will be waiting there for him, and it is not the first time they have been together near a hospital. James' sister Roxanne has leukemia, and her son had a multiple organ transplant 4 years ago.

"We know how to come through this. We now how to come forward and say life goes on, and the fact is he is alive," said his sister Jody Eder.
