Losman wants a trade

By Jenny Rizzo

Just one week after word that Bills General Manager Marv Levy is leaving the team, another member of the Buffalo Bills says he wants out. Quarterback J.P. Losman is crying foul over the way he lost his starting job to rookie Trent Edwards this past season. Now Losman says he wants to be traded to another team.

Losman's announcement is getting mixed reaction from Bills fans. The former starting quarterback was the topic of conversation at the Warehouse Restaurant and Bar in Hamburg, where playoff games were airing on all of the bar's big screen TVs.

Hamburg resident Don Buckley said, "I don't blame him for wanting out. I think he probably didn't get a fair shake of it. And for the Bills, its probably the best thing, since in fact he might be a distraction if they weren't able to trade him. I don't think they'd get a whole heck of a lot for him."

Brian Williams, of Hamburg, said "Selfishly, I wish we could keep him since I think he'd be a great backup. But I wish him the best and I think he'll do better elsewhere."

West Seneca resident Tom Braun said, "I think people in his situation that are young quarterbacks that flame out kind of quickly, I don't think you necessarily get a first or second-round draft pick from that. It would be like a mid-4th or 6th round draft pick."

Ultimately the decision of whether or not to trade Losman is up the Buffalo Bills. Losman did say that he would play out his final year, if it was necessary. Losman's agent said he has not discussed his client's request with Bills management yet, since the team is currently without a general manager.
