On Webster Street near Tremont Street in Downtown North Tonawanda, sits a billboard advertising a lingerie and adult store in Cheektowaga. The ad features a woman wearing revealing lingerie and reads "sexy lingerie and adult store".

Some local lawmakers want to see the advertisement taken down as soon as possible, especially with Canal Fest expected to draw thousands of visitors this week.

“This kind of advertising doesn’t belong in North Tonawanda,” said Alderman-at-Large Jeff Glatz. “We have worked hard to protect our city’s family-friendly atmosphere. We are calling on Lamar to remove this sign immediately.”

“We’re in the midst of Canal Fest and tens of thousands of people are visiting our community and this is not what North Tonawanda wants as their first impression,” said Niagara County Legislator Rich Andres.

Lamar Advertising owns the billboard and tells 7 Eyewitness News it cannot pull the advertisement until the contract ends expires.

"We're under contract until the end of August," explained Lamar Advertising Vice President and General Manager Rick Dvorak. "We will make sure that type of advertising doesn't go up at that location again."
