43North and Uber are partnering up to give local entrepreneurs the chance to pitch their business ideas to venture capitalists and business leaders for a chance at $5000.

Buffalo area residents with the Uber app can open it up and tap the UberPITCH pop-up between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Wednesday, January 25.

If the entrepreneur gets connected with an investor, he or she will arrive and the person who requested the meeting will have seven minutes to pitch his or her idea. The investor will then provide feedback on the idea.

A select group of entrepreneurs from the day will be invited to pitch their ideas at an event that evening with all of the participating venture capitalists who participated in the UberPITCH. Entrepreneurs will be given advanced notice if they have been selected to present.

The venture capitalists involved in the event are: Somak Chattopadhyay, Founder and Managing Partner at Armory Squares Ventures; Nicole Camarre, Senior Associate at Armory Square Ventures; Pete Grum, President at Rand Capital; Jon Spitz and Steve Polan of Z80 Labs.

"43North is proud to partner with Uber to present this event, where entrepreneurs have the chance to get valuable feedback from investors and a shot at a $5000 prize," said 43North Executive Director John Gavigan. "This is also a moment for our innovative, forward-thinking community to declare, 'We need Uber!'"
