It’s farm to jar, and now to shelves, for one Buffalo business.

For the owners of Barrel and Brine, the opening day of Whole Foods in Amherst means sharing their products with the people of Western New York.

Lindsey and RJ Marvin say their business specializes in fermented products like pickles, sauerkraut and kombucha.

They’ve been in business for almost two years and are now seeing their specialties on the shelves at Whole Foods.

Everything is sourced and made locally at the couple’s shop on Carolina Street, and with the exception of one employee, the husband and wife do it all.

“We both grew up in Sicilian families, so pickling and fermentation was a tradition for us,” said Marvin.

The pair spent the morning on Friday at the opening of the new store as people came by and tried the pickled delights.

“What is important about our business is that we’re trying to build a community,” said the couple.

Since the launch at the store, Barrel and Brine already has more orders ready to go.
