Lewiston standoff ends with subject in custody

On Saturday, around 10 a.m., a shelter in place was issued by the Niagara County Sheriff's Office. 

New York State Police asked residents in the area of Garlow, Stolz, Kline, Laurel Road and Donna Drive in Lewiston, to stay inside their homes due to an active police call in progress. 

According to police a suicidal subject was barricaded on Garlow Road and has been taken into custody without incident. 

The state's Special Operations Response Team and negotiators were on the scene. State police were assisted by Lewiston fire department, Niagara County Sheriff's office, and Lewiston police during the matter.
