Erie county lawmakers will discuss issues with the county's 911 system after it went offline in March.

The 911 system computers overheated and the cooling systems failed to kick in. On top of that the two back-up systems didn't work either.

According to Erie County Emergency Services the back-up systems are run by Verizon and Intrado. A spokesperson for Verizon will be at Thursday morning's meeting to help answer why the system failed.

911 service was offline from about 3 a.m. to 7 a.m. Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz said calls were being routed to Buffalo and Tonawanda instead of Amherst, Tonawanda, Hamburg and Cheektowaga.

Thursday's meeting starts at 11 a.m. inside Erie County chambers.
