BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) - Legendary Buffalo musician Lance Diamond died Sunday, according to family sources.
Lance Diamond, a staple of Buffalo's music scene for over 40 years, was forced to cancel his New Year's Eve concert due to heart complications.
Diamond's sister Paulette confirmed the sad news with 7 Eyewitness News late Sunday night.
Diamond's family says he developed heart complications a few days after Christmas.
Diamond, a Buffalo Music Hall of Famer, grew up in the Queen City.
The sultry singer often attracted large crowds for his shows, including the annual Mash Bash, a fundraiser for the Buffalo branch of the Red Cross.
The Goo Goo Dolls released a statement on their Facebook page about the passing of Diamond;
We are deeply saddened by the passing of dear friend Lance Diamond He was a mentor as well as a friend He was never at a loss for words lamenting him almost seems inappropriate right now because
He would always lighten any situation with a quick wit and huge heart
His life was a celebration every day
So we honor his spirit with love and respect
Until we see you again friend
We won't laugh as often or as hard
But we are better because you were in our lives
