Lancaster residents took advantage of the lull between lake effect snowstorms Wednesday to rush out of their homes and go for supplies.

As snow removal equipment struggled to clear a path down snow clogged streets, residents walked to the nearest convenience store.

Theresa Oden said, “Ventured out for supplies, running out of snacks and drinks. Just trying to survive right now. We live right there and just kind of swam our way through the snow to get to the store."

Front-end loaders were only spending enough time to make a path in the road for emergency vehicles. The nearest main road in Oden’s neighborhood is Broadway, a normally five-lane wide street that is down to two lanes, where a tractor trailer remains stuck.

School is again canceled Thursday while residents continue to try to survive the snow.
