Lancaster Police help injured fawn

LANCASTER, N.Y. (WKBW) - Lancaster Police helped a deer fawn that had been hit by a car.

It happened Friday on Central Avenue.

Police say the driver left the scene, but others called police to ask for help.

The officer who responded to the scene determined the fawn was not seriously hurt, and noticed its mother was nearby. He carried the fawn into a nearby wooded area and the mother followed.

Police say the mother reunited with the fawn as soon as the officer set it down, and the two ran off together.

The Lancaster Police Department posted about the exchange on the department's facebook page.
