Perry, N.Y. (WKBW) - Police in the Town of Perry said crime has been on the rise in the past few months. Now, they said a home invasion and attack of an elderly woman has the community concerned.

On Saturday night just before 6 p.m., two men wearing ski masks forced their way into the home of an 88-year-old woman on Handley Street. One man pushed the woman on the couch and held her there while the other searched the home.

After about 25 minutes the men left the home with an undisclosed amount of cash. The woman suffered cuts to her face and bruises on her arms.

A neighbor who was walking by the home said he saw two men running from the house, through the wooded area then into a getaway car.

People in the town said they are shaken by the crime

"We were quite shocked, I was very surprised, that's not something very common although small towns are not that different from any where else...there is always something going on, good or ill," Community Member Ann Burlingham said.

The woman is doing fine but upset about he ordeal. Now, her family said they have installed a security system in her home and they are offering a reward for information leading to an arrest in the case.
