Buffalo, N.Y. (WKBW) - Friends and family confirm that the victim of a deadly car accident was a 10 year old boy who was an immigrant from Buton.

Authorities said he was crossing Prospect Avenue on the city's Westside around 6 p.m. Thursday night. He was struck by a church daycare bus hauling children.

Emergency crews quickly arrived on scene but were unable to save the boy. Many children were still on the bus at the time of the accident. The female driver stopped immediately after she realized that she hit something. Police said she is being cooperative in the investigation.

"The victim was hit from the front of the bus and the driver has volunteered consented to give a blood sample to test for alcohol. But, at this time there is not signs of any alcohol involvement or intoxication," Lt. Joseph Pierchala with the Buffalo Police Department said.

Although it appears the driver was not intoxicated, authorities are investigating to see if she was speeding. They are also looking into whether the driver stopped at the sign just feet from where the boy was hit.

The bus was hauled away by the police but it could be a week or more before the investigation is completed and authorities determine who is a fault.
