He's been on the job about two weeks and so far so good. Michael Murphy, the new man in charge at Shea's Performing Arts Center says "I'm gradually learning where everything is."

Michael officially started as the new president at Shea's on October 3rd, which was right in the middle of Finding Neverland rehearsals, and that was pretty exciting considering it was the first time a National Tour of a Broadway show was launched from Shea's.

As he takes over from the retiring Tony Conte, Michael recognizes one of the best things that Shea's has going for it is the community saying "There's an incredible community here, with what's happening in theatre, the work that's going to be happening with Shaw Festival, I'm thrilled to be part of it."

Michael Murphy recently headed up the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego, California. He gave up the sunshine and warm temperatures to make the move to Buffalo. But this is really a homecoming for the Gowanda born Western New York native. He says "did I ever think I'd be here at Shea's when I came here in the 70's to see Annie? No. But I couldn't be happier."
