Western New York Man Drowns in Rice Lake

RICE LAKE, ONTARIO (OPP) - A Western New York man drowned while fishing on Rice Lake Sunday afternoon. The Ontario Provincial Police have identified the man as Thomas Gangloff, 60, of Buffalo

Police say Gangloff was out fishing when he went missing on the lake. He was reportedly not wearing a life vest when he fell from the boat. Neighbors say they heard the cry for help and immediately jumped into the water in an effort to save him.
Gangloff was about 200 feet from shore and in about 10 feet of water.

An OPP helicopter and dive team, firefighters engaged in the search and recovered the body at around 4:15 p.m.
