ORCHARD PARK, NY (WKBW) - Orchard Park police have arrested 21-year-old Sean Keenan in connection with the death of his father John Keenan.

We have obtained new information on how police caught Keenan. The suspect was traveling into Canada when he was apprehended by Canadian officials according to multiple sources.

New court documents obtained by Eyewitness News indicate Sean Keenan beat and stabbed his 70-year-old father to death, inside their Orchard Park home.

Police chief Mark Pacholec tell us homicides in Orchard Park are rare.

"I don't think homicides are usual for any police agency. Our last homicides, we had two of them in 2009," Pacholec said.

Police were called to 2 Hillsboro Drive at around 9:30 a.m. Monday morning.

The house has been on the market for some time according to neighbors, with a list price of $559,000.

It appears the Keenans had money problems. The family owes more than $70,000 in back school and other property taxes to Erie County and the Town of Orchard Park, according to the town's website.

Pictures of the interior have been posted online. The four bedroom, five bathroom home is luxurious with a spiral staircase, indoor hot tub and large kitchen.
