Longtime City of Lockport Mayor Michael Tucker announced today that he is stepping down from his position.

Timing for Tucker’s announcement could not be worse. Tucker has been under scrutiny for alleged misuse of his city credit card by another city employee. He says it’s a nine-thousand-dollar expense, and not enough of a reason to make him resign.

“I think it's much ado about nothing,” said Tucker. “I'm surely not running from that. In three or four weeks when it comes out people will be shaking their heads. It has nothing to do with my decision.”

Many are wondering tonight, why Tucker is resigning half way through his third term? The Lockport City Mayor says other opportunities came his way.

“Opportunity knocked,” he said. “I think there comes a point-in-time no matter where you are, what occupation you're in, it's time to move on and I think this is my time.”
