BUFFALO (WKBW) Dubbed one of the final pieces of the puzzle, the plan for retail space inside HARBORCENTER was unveiled on Thursday, with 5-10 thousand square feet of space for several vendors, set to be open by early next year.

"So that would give us the opportunity for six or seven vendors in here. Six or seven stores that people could shop in," HARBORCENTER President John Koelmel said.

Then the HARBORCENTER tour went inside the 716 Restaurant. The massive 33 by 13 foot space on the wall will house the largest restaurant projection screen in the country.

"It'll take up what you see there, the big screen. It doesn't come in at all. It takes up that entire board up there," assistant project manger Jayme Couch said.

Then onto the main attraction, two full size hockey rinks. The feature rink has a capacity of 1800 people, and both use outdoor light as a key element.

"Bring the outdoor lighting in, that's part of what you see up top, the chance to bring in outdoor lighting opposed to the traditional fully enclosed rink environment never see the light of day," Koelmel said.

Construction crews say the parking ramp, rinks, and restaurant are around 90 percent complete, with things on schedule for an October open. Work on the hotel will then still continue, it is slated to open in the spring.

"Given the winter we've had and all the hard work that everyone has put in over the last 6 months to a year, I think that to look at the October turnover with as much work that we've gotten done is a big deal," project superintendent Ryan Poropat said.

Canisius men's hockey is scheduled to play Ohio State on October 31st at HARBORCENTER. Poropat said there's "no doubt" that will happen.
