A 7-month-old girl was killed after being hit by a car while in a stroller.

Buffalo Police say Nyree Greene was hit on the 300 block of Moselle Street around 9:45 p.m. Accident investigators said a vehicle was traveling southbound on Moselle when it hit the stroller along with Nyree's mother and another relative.

Derrick Williams, who was across the street, said he heard “boom boom” and he knew something bad had happened.

“The lady was hollering. She was bloody. She was holding her child in the street, sitting down. You could see the baby was just limp. You could tell that baby was pretty much in bad shape,” Williams said.

Neighbors said the car hit Nyree and the two women before slamming into a tree on the sidewalk. It stopped just short of a home. Another relative who was driving by on her way to get something to eat saw the accident. She then put the victims in her SUV and rushed them to the hospital.

Nyree later died at ECMC. Her mom and relative were also taken to the hospital, but are expected to be okay.

Officers say the 44-year-old driver was heading home from a friend’s house. Neighbors say after the crash he seemed shaken up and disoriented.

“He waited for the police to come; I was glad about that. Because I wouldn’t have let him left anyway,” the neighbor said.

Monday, family members returned to the spot where it all happened. They are hoping police will soon make sense to why a precious and innocent little girl is now dead.

“A mother lost her child on Father’s Day. Every year it’s not going to get any better,” one relative said.

Police said that charges have not been filed at this time.
