For Buffalonians, you have to cross the Canadian border to get to the closest IKEA store, soon enough that could all change.

According to the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle, the Swedish furniture giant is considering bringing a store to the Henrietta area. Interest appears to be in multiple locations along the likes of Marketplace Mall and Getinge Group site on East Henrietta Road, which sources say are both under construction.

Robert Moore, president of Moore Corporate Real Estate, says his involvement with the selling of the Getinge property led him to field dozens of inquiries about the property, but not one from IKEA.

A company spokesperson told the Democrat and Chronicle they're always looking for new opportunities to expand and grow, but there's been no formal plan announced for a store in the Rochester area.

For now, it's speculation, but with the company expanding more in the United States it could only be a matter of time.
