As the People's Climate March in Washington D.C. was underway, hundreds of WNYers held a local climate march in Niagara Square to raise awareness about climate change.

The marches fall on President Trump's 100th day in office and for those organizing the march in Buffalo that was no coincidence. Many speakers criticized President Trump's handling of climate change issues so far and are calling on leaders in Washington to do more to decrease greenhouse gas emissions.

"Ultimately what we need is action at the highest level," Michael Mann, climate scientist at Penn State, explained. "We need our policy makers to help incentivize the shift away from fossil fuels toward renewable energy."

"It takes real courage and leadership to turn things around now," Victoria Ross, executive director of WNY Peace Center said at the march.
