The Friends of former Buffalo Police Chief Tom Moran are coming together to celebrate his life this weekend.

Chief Moran died suddenly in March because of a brief illness. He was a 25-year veteran of the Buffalo Police Department. He was 49 years old and left behind a wife and two daughters. His family sat down with 7 Eyewitness News and says he devoted his life to serving his community.

"There's not a person that I don't know from South Buffalo, from the City of Buffalo that he hasn't done something personally for," says his nephew, John Gilmour. "He really went out of his way to accommodate people."

You can help support the Moran family at a special benefit in his honor Sunday. The party runs from 2-7PM at the Coca Cola Field Pavilion. The family-friendly event will include bounce houses, games, basket raffles, a silent auction and 50/50 drawings. Tickets are $25.

If you'd like to donate to the Moran family, they've set up an account for you to do so.
