Some put honey in their tea, others on their toast - but how is it made?

We know it all comes from bees, but what exactly is the process? 7 Eyewitness News met up with East Aurora beekeeper Dave Newman to get a first hand look.

Newman started the hobby and business three years ago and it has taken off.

While worldwide the bee population is on the decline, Newman has more than tripled the number of beehives he maintains since 2013.

By day, Newman works from home for a Florida-based business. Eventually, he hopes to make the bee business his only job, adding more and more hives every year.

This hobby started when Newman's priest told him he made his own Krupnik, a honey-based liquor. Newman asked where the priest got the honey from and decided he'd rather make the honey himself and save some money.

The rest, they say, is history.
